The Messiah: An Oratorio Complete Vocal Score (G. Schirmer's Editions of Oratorios and Cantatas)
By George Frideric Handel

All right, all right, I'll update.  I've got ten comments on my last post, so it's time to update.  (Yes Amanda, you cracked the code)

Well, the play is over.  Good ridance, and yet I miss it.  I'm totally glad that making costumes is over, and that it isn't eating all of my free evenings up anymore either, but I'll miss the people.  There were lots of saints in the cast to fellowship with, and plenty of other fun people too.  I'll miss them all.  There's a certain comraderaie that occures when a group is working toward that same end, when common effort is applied to a common goal.  Hummm...where have we heard these concepts before.  I don't know, maybe the Zionic principal?

Happy happy joy joy!! I finished the hard part of the bride'smaids dresses.  I've got them made.  Now Laura has to put the zippers in.  I would have put the zippers in myself, but she wants invisible zippers, and I don't get along with those well.  Then I'll have to make alterations and hem them and we'll add some miniscule trim and they'll be done. Yippee!!

70's reunion is next week.  I'm teaching the 3,4, and 5 year olds with Clarie.  She's teaching the story and comming up with the craft for Monday-Wednesday, and I'll be doing the same for Thursday and Friday.  We've got our schedule nailed down.  I've got my daily craft for Thursday 3/4ths of the way done.  I still have to find flanelgraph for both of my stories and do my reading for Friday's story (figure out what exactly I want to say).  And of couse go shoping for my part of the supplies.

I've also got two parties to go to Sunday when I get to Lamoni; Mariah's birthday party, and Amy's wedding shower.  I'll plan on stopping by Mariah's thing on my way to campus.  Amy's shower doesn't start until 6pm anyway, so I'll just have to miss the first half hour of camp stuff.  I'm going to try to be back to Shaw in time for the evening preaching service.  I've been checking out the housing arangements.  It looks like I'll be in the same hall as last year with many of the same people.  I'm getting pretty excited!

Notice, I finally finished Jonathan's book!  Oh my word.  I thought I'd never get done with that thing.  I'm glad I read it though, helps in my comprehending of certain of the male species, (patients included).

Well I guess I should go get vitals, or do something productive like that.

God bless,

Rachel

Hello all,

Well Amanda's asking for a new post, and I've got 15 minutes of time left on the computer so I'll try and type one up.

Actually, I finished the book yesterday, but I'm tired of putting Jonathan's killing book up.  I'm going to finish that stupid book if it's the last thing I do.

The unmentionable topic has progressed and regressed and then progressed again, and at the moment is at a stand still, but that could change at any time.

Crazy busy right now.  I got myself drafted into designing the costumes for the local production of Music Man.  Which isn't really designing as much as making sure everone comes up with an acceptable costume.
I also have all of Laura's wedding stuff as well as making the bride's maid dresses.  As well as all the other weddings going on.  Simcha's, Jennifer's, and Amy's.
And I'm planning my parents' Suprise 25th wedding anniversary reception.
To top it all off, Claire and I volunteered to teach the 3 and 4 year olds at reunion.  I'm not looking forward to planning all that on top of everything else, but I'm really looking forward to reunion and teaching the little ones.

Well, that's all for now.

So Amanda has been begging me to write a entry.  For some silly reason, she's tired of scrolling down my old one, past all of her comments, just to comment again.  Silly girl.

Well, not much new going on in my life.  Ok, actually that's not true, but what's going on in my life needs to remain fairly private right now.  It's not bad, it's actually a good thing, it's just the world doesn't need to know at the moment.  I would however appriciate prayers.  God has really blessed me in this issue so far, but I need His continued guidance and more importantly, I need to be able to recognize his direction.

Work continues to be work.  Sometimes the floor is full, sometimes we're getting canceled because census is so low.  And yet there never seems to be a happy medium.  Blaaaaahhh.  The coolest thing happened a week ago at work.  I got to share for the first time in an administration of one of the saints while at work.  Of course I didn't lay hands on the patient or anything like that.  I just got to be there and pray while it happened.  It was really cool.  And the patient's pain was relieved and didn't return for the rest of the shift.  I got to share with the patient and the daughter, that I too was restoration.  It made for a wonderful bonding experience.  I wasn't just caring for another of God's creations, I was caring for my sister in Christ.  The next time I worked, I wasn't assigned to that patient, but I stopped by the room to say "Hi"  and though the patient wasn't awake, I got the biggest hug from the daughter.

Well, that's all for now.

Well, I'm at work and typing this.  If that tells you what kind of night we're having.  I will not say the evil words because I won't jinx us, but yeah....so...um...lalala...yeah...you get the picture.

What have I been doing with myself?  Well, the biggest news is I cut my hair, like really short.  Ok really short for me.  It's just below my shoulders.  It's a good cut, but I hate the length.  My hair will never be this short again.

Went to retreat this weekend.  I went thinking it would be my last retreat.  I mean, these things are geared more toward college age people, and I've been out for most of a year now.  But I'm so glad I went.  It reminded me of how poorly I'm doing in my walk with Christ, the worst part being that I keep thinking I'm doing OK.  I also need the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ.  I think I will continue to go for at least a little while longer.

I'm also attending Zion's Witness now.  My parents aren't happy about this at all, but they'll live.  It's my life, my decision.  And it's not like their church was getting the kingdom build any faster than the restoration branches.  At least repentance, and building the kingdom are discussed on a regular basis, unlike certain other places.

I've got lots of cousins that attend Zion's Witness.  It's kind of nice seeing them on a regular basis.  Kind of keeps the Hope spirit alive.  Kathy keeps inviting me over for dinner after church.  You all know me, I hate going somewhere and not brining something to contribute to the meal.  Therefore, I keep bringing things.  So at a family thing this past Sunday, Jonathan calls Elizabeth, and passes the phone around to everyone.  The first words out of her mouth to me, "So I hear you're a good cook."  Very amusing.

Two years ago, on the old xanga site, I asked for prayers for Jonathan.  Well, at the time I had no idea how very much he was in need of those prayers.  He still needs them, but he's come a long way in his healing process.  I have no idea how much longer, if ever, it will be until there is no wound, and only a scar.  (Don't you love my nursing analogies?)  He and I have spent a lot of time talking since we're the only ones remotely close to eachother's ages at ZW.  It's going to be nice to have a guy friend to bounce thoughts off of when "the one" comes into my life.

Blame Jonathan for the book.  He brought it to church and I of course had to read the back cover, which then made him insist that I read the book.  It's going slow because I refuse to read it if I'm going to be sleeping anytime soon.  It really is quite interesting and informative though.

Well, I'm wracking my brain to come up with another paragraph, so I'll take that as a sign to sign off.

Oh my word!!  Can you believe it, I'm actually posting.  It's been what?  Two months.

I must say, not much going on in my life.
We had Christmas at my appartment.  That was cool.  First time I got to host a family event.  I'm sure it won't be the last, but still the first is something to mark down.  Hummm...Christmas gifts,  quite a bit of kitchen stuff.  Pots, baking pans, and Chicken countertop stuff (cookie jar and canisters).  Very useful stuff I must say.  A Suduko book (that I'm a quarter of the way through already ) and the all important Litman stethescope.

I gave Shantelle my old stethescope.  I'm so proud of her.  And the great thing about her being two years behind me in nursing school it that I can pawn all my old nursing school stuff that I don't want anymore off on her

I've of course been working.  But good old HIPPA won't let me talk about that here.

I'm in a Scripture study on Tuesday nights.  Of course having to work every other Tuesday puts a damper on this.  Blarg.  Oh well.  It's good for the group because it means that we don't get too inmeshed into some obscure topic of discussion.  Helps keep things moving.

Laura and I are getting started on bride's maid dresses.  We've got the pattern and the basic material.  She hasn't decided if she wants to do and over layer on the skirt so we don't have that material nor the material for the bodice lining.  Happily though I think I found some pictures of a wedding on facebook that used the same pattern with the sleeves (which we won't be using ) so I need to let Laura know so that she can take a look and see what she thinks.

Oh and I bought a new car.  Yup a new car.  It's a 2006 Nissan Sentra.  The greatest things about it are that the back passenger window isn't halfway down, the heat isn't intermitant, and it's licensed!  Whoo Hoo!!

Well I think that's all for now.

Rachel
